    A: LEAs that previously completed the LEA Self-Assessment and Improvement Plan during the 2015-16 school year will complete the LEA Self-Assessment Update. The LEA Self-Assessment Update is due on May 22nd, 2017.
    New charter schools (schools first operating during the 2016-17 school year) will complete the original LEA Self-Assessment and Improvement Plan. The LEA Self-Assessment and Improvement Plan for new charter schools is due June 1, 2017.

    Analysis
    Q: My LEA doesn't have any students graduating. How should we respond to section 4 (Graduation for Students with Disabilities) of the Analysis section?
    A: Please make a note in the analysis response box that you don't have graduates, then document how you are preparing students with disabilities for graduation later. Are students progressing from one grade to the next? Are students with disabilities making progress in the curriculum such that they will be able meet graduation requirements? Are IEPs written with goals that have been mapped to students' post-school goals, so that progress is occurring at a sufficient rate for successful completion? If they are high school students, are they earning credits to keep them on track to graduate?

    The LEA Self-Assessment Update was emailed to directors and coordinators on March 16th and 17th, 2017. The email was sent by Kelly Breest and had the LEA Self-Assessment Update attached as an Excel file. If you did not receive the LEA Self-Assessment Update for your LEA, please email Matt Hoskins.

    Submitting the LEA Self-Assessment

    A: The excel file containing your LEA’s completed assessment and plan should be saved with the name “LEASA.2015-16.[yourLEAname]” and emailed to heather.reynolds@dpi.nc.gov by July 1, 2016. Additional files or attachments are not necessary. Details available in the LEA Self-Assessment & Improvement Process Guidance Manual {LEASA.Manual.2015-16.V4.2015-07-30.pdf} on page 15.
